Minnesota Vikings Get New Artificial Grass FieldSep 28, 2012
A high school in Minneapolis, Minnesota showcased their new synthetic turf football field just in time before its homecoming football game last Friday. Local news channel KSTC-TV reports that Washburn High School unveiled its new advanced synthetic turf field, a project that cost $1.2 million.
While $1.2 million seems like a lot of money for a high school, the school was able to buy synthetic turf with a little help from the community. The Minnesota Vikings donated $200,000, a Hennepin County grant provided $200,000, and the rest of the money was raised by the school, parents, and students. Go Washburn High School!
Although the initial cost of installing artificial grass wholesale can be expensive, the long-term benefits include dramatically reduced maintenance costs. Synthetic grass fields don’t have to be mowed, fertilized or watered. And they can also be used for more than football games. According to the article, the new synthetic turf field at Washburn High School will also be used by soccer and lacrosse teams. How’s that for teamwork?
