Artificial Turf Gaining Popularity

It is hard to imagine a time when natural grass is no longer in style; but in countless cities throughout the nation, the time has already come as more people embrace artificial turf lawns.

While it had a good run in the spotlight of homes and businesses around the world, natural grass landscaping is becoming a thing of the past for many reasons. For one, it consumes too much water. For water-wise states such as California and Arizona, owning a natural grass lawn is considered a wasteful commodity, not to mention harmful to the environment. The fact is that maintaining a natural grass lawn with lawn mowers and other equipment contributes to global warming; lawn mowers emit high levels of carbon monoxide and other noxious emissions.

On the other hand, fake turf grass does not need to be watered, mowed or fertilized. Without the need for a lawn mower, fake turf can reduce our footprint on the Earth. It has been shown to reduce consumption of energy and raw materials as well as generation of solid waste. Another reason why artificial grass is taking over its natural counterpart is cost. Although artificial grass prices are steep up front, the cost to own and maintain an artificial lawn is far less than the cost of a natural lawn, paying for itself in water and maintenance alone.
